Photomosaics are puzzles made up of hundreds of small pictures arranged in such a way that the overall image is of one picture. The concept of mosaics dates back some five thousand years. Rob Silvers, famous for creating digital mosaics (some of which hang in museums), created the Lincoln mosaic from thousands of black-and-white photographs. Each piece (1,000 total) has a finely etched picture that ultimately makes up part of Lincoln's face.
