Description
- A doublet is a cushioned defensive garment worn alone or below mail or plate armour. The Doublet jacket is comprised of high-quality cotton fibres and moves freely. Raw cotton pads and cotton linen are utilised for added comfort, breathability, and durability.
- While the doublet was primarily used for military purposes, civilians sometimes wore it for protection during travel or work.
- Suitable Padded Arming If you want to wear steel plate or chainmail armour, doublet are a necessity. It is cosy to wear when worn by itself. The elbow pads have fabric-covered buttons made of horn, bone, or wood from the early medieval period. Does not overheat during intense training and competitions.
- This armour was worn as a full suit of armour as well as beneath mail and plate to cushion the body and prevent chafing. It was not used beneath armour until the mid-twelfth century. It was quite insulating and hence uncomfortable, but the soldier needed the protection.
