Description
THIS IS A FULL PANE OF 20 STAMPS WITH A SIDE PANEL OF ISAMU NAGUCHI. On May 8, 2004 in Long Island City, NY., the USPS honored sculptor and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi. Known for his sculpture and public works, Noguchi designed everyday objects and public spaces to be sculptural, his work merged Western and Japanese art. His delicate Akari lamps, made of mulberry paper and bamboo, for instance, reflect the Asian influence. Noguchi and R. Buckminster Fuller collaborated on several projects. He was born on November 17, 1904 in Los Angeles, CA., and died on December 10, 1988 at the age of 84.
