Description
- These cups are great for raising tadpoles while saving space. Dart frog tadpoles are cannibalistic, and will try to eat each other. Use these 32oz tadpole cups to house each tadpole individually. Fill half way.
- This is a semi-clear lid that fits the Josh's Frogs Tadpole Cups. Use the lid to reduce ventilation and keep your tadpoles from jumping out! We recommend using the lid at all times, although it's most important when your tadpoles have 4 legs and are preparing to leave the water.
- 2 drops of dechlorinator will make tap water safe to use with your tadpoles. We recommend using this to treat tap water after you use up the initial gallon of spring water. Keep the empty jug to fill up with tap water, add your dechlorinator, and allow the water to sit until it's room temperature.
- Indian Almond leaves are a great way to naturally condition water by adding tannins, which help keep your tadpoles healthy. The leaves also serve as an extra snack between meals. Cut a leaf into 1" squares, then add a square to the cup. When the leaf square has been mostly eaten, replace it.
- Developed over the past decade for use in our own breeding programs, Josh's Frogs Dart Frog Tadpole Food is pelleted and ready to use. Just shake before feeding to ensure the powder component of the diet covers the pellets, and you're ready to go! Feed 1 pellet 1-3 times a week .
You should receive the kit and supplies before the tadpole is shipped. Youll need these supplies to prepare water for the tadpole and begin your tadpole raising journey. We also recommend buying a jug of spring water and a turkey baster beforehand. These can be bought at most grocery stores. You may also order this waste remover in lieu of the turkey baster: This will be essential in cleaning the tadpole environment later on. The day you receive the tadpole, soak an indian almond leaf in the gallon of spring water and let it sit at room temperature. Ideally, this would sit for a day, Your dart frog tadpole should arrive insulated and in a small breather bag. Remove the bag with tadpole from the box and let it sit for a half an hour or so to get to room temperature. Do not float it in water as this may suffocate your tadpole (breather bags must be allowed to breathe for oxygen exchange). After that, youll want to open this bag and empty the contents into an empty 32 oz cup. At this point, your almond leaf soaked spring water should be ready. Slowly introduce water from the jug into the cup (pour a little bit into the cup every 10 minutes). Fill this until the 32 oz cup is half full. Then add a small piece of almond leaf for the tadpole to nibble on while in the cup. Finally, place one tadpole pellet into the cup, secure the provided lid on it, and put the cup itself somewhere safe where it wont get too cold or knocked over. You will also want to make sure it is exposed to an ambient light cycle (basically, do not put your tadpole in complete darkness 24/7). If you have multiple tadpoles, set up multiple cups such that each gets its own cup. Your tadpole(s) are now acclimated and you are ready to begin raising your amphibian pets.
