Spirou et Fantasio is a comic book series published in the Journal de Spirou. Its publication began in 1938 and the series became one of the most popular Franco-Belgian comics, considered a classic in the same way as Asterix or Tintin. It features the characters of Spirou and Fantasio, reporters, most often accompanied by Spirou's tamed squirrel: Spip and, from the 4th album, Marsupilami. Their adventures lead them to confront diverse and varied gangsters, dictators and other mad scholars in adventures mixing humor, science fiction and fantasy.
