Solar Orrery Expansion is an astronomy card game for all ages. It adds 4 more systems to the original game allowing up to 8 players in one game (this deck can be used as a complete game by itself, too.) If a person can tell the difference between the planets in our solar system they can play this game. An Orrery (pronounced Or-rer-ry) is a planetary model of our solar system. These models can be very complicated with all the known planets and, even, Pluto. For this game the Orrery consists of the all planets plus two dwarf planets: Ceres and Pluto. Ceres is in the Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and Pluto is, as you probably know, has an eccentric orbit just outside of Neptunes. There are 3 more cards consisting of two moons (Luna and Charon) and the Sun (Sol.) The deck is divided into 4 systems (colors) each with 13 cards. The standard game play is similar to gin-rummy where each player (called a Star) attempts to build a hand (called an Orrery) with all the planet and dwarf planets (i.e. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.) They want to avoid getting Moons or Suns. The Deck is the size of a standard Bridge deck and the cards are made from a 12 point 305gsm black-core matt card stock, which provides great color quality, sheen, and snap back. The printing is professionally done so the cards will last through many games without the ink smudging or bleeding.
